Oakland, Calif. (September 7, 2022) – The Southwest Premier League (SWPL) announces Bay Area United FC as its newest member.

With deep roots in Yemeni immigrant culture, Bay Area United FC will join Pacific Premier for the 2022/2023 season.

“When we first heard about the SWPL we were interested, and that led up to taking a deeper dive into the league,” Bay Area United Head Coach Azaam Algahim said. “We were able to see for ourselves and decide that the SWPL would be the best fit for our young, talented team.”

The club is owned by Algahim and Mohammed Alkawsi. Jamman Alzahrani serves as the General Manager.

Algahim started and built a strong team with success in Michigan's Yemeni American Communities Cup before reestablishing the club in Northern California and drawing from the local Yemeni and vibrant immigrant communities to build the roster.

The team joined the United Premier Soccer League in 2021.
